In an old surgical procedure under total anesthesia,
a strip from the back of the head was implanted whole
into the affected area. This created the appearance
of a "headband". While the results were scientifically
satisfactory, they were a total failure esthetically.
This technique, which is more than 30 years old, is
no longer used.
